Active took the role of Principle Contractor for this project consisting of stripping a former central London office space back to its concrete shell. The building comprised twelve floors with a rooftop plant level and basement. The detailed scope of work included:
- Installation of a designed hoarding to the site perimeter to secure the site boundary
- Installation of two scaffold waste chutes to assist with removal of waste materials
- Existing furniture, fixings and equipment were retained
- Chillers and generators crane lifted and recycled
- Soft strip of the former office spaces and retail outlet, and associated plant rooms/areas
- Existing services supplies such as water, gas and electrical supply were isolated in accordance with the client instruction
- Asbestos containing materials (ACM), as outlined in the R&D survey report were removed under semi and fully controlled conditions
- Additional ACM’s in the form of sprayed coating were discovered and subsequently removed
- Block/brick work internal structures were demolished throughout the site.
- 96% of site material recycled.
