The Hill House building is a 12 storey office building due to be refurbished by our client and converted into residential apartments.
The project involved the complete removal of all asbestos containing materials from the premises prior to the planned refurbishment works taking place on site. The asbestos containing materials present on site were widespread across all twelve upper floors and all three basement levels. The works include the removal of fibrous asbestos insulation lagging to pipework, fibrous asbestos insulation board materials removal, removal of textiles, asbestos cement products and the removal of asbestos containing vinyl floor tiles and adhesive materials from all twelve upper floor levels.
In order to effectively and safely remove the asbestos materials from site Active deployed its modern fleet of specialist decontamination units, air movers, controlled multi point wet injection systems and dustless blasting equipment to the site.
Due to the varied removal techniques and skill sets required to effectively complete the works, Actives project managers were able to identify and deploy each individual specialist site asbestos removal operative with the relevant experience and expertise to site in order to ensure the works were completed in strict accordance with legislative requirements.
Active’s site managers were able to effectively coordinate the works with the clients site project team in order to ensure works were sequenced in such a way that follow on construction trades could commence construction works immediately following the successful handover and clearance of all asbestos materials from each floor level of the building.
Following Active’s asbestos remediation works on the site the client has been provided with a building that has been cleared of all known asbestos containing materials, which in turn has provided a safe environment for future residential occupation.
