Previously Active had installed a temporary works structure to retain the front façade on this project, which then allowed the demolition works to commence. Over a 14-month period Active progressively reduced the site from a 4 storey structure to decrease the site level by 3m with works consisting of a combination of soft strip, asbestos removal, façade retention and full demolition.
Active were later requested to return to site to remove the temporary works structure once the concrete slabs of the new building had been installed behind the retained facade. Active released the framework level by level assisted by the onsite tower crane in coordination with cutting and breaking window openings and installing steel lintels. Active utilized its tracksaw and brokk 100 to create the openings as the steel framework was dismantled.
As well as sequencing window openings and steel framework removal, Active also used its Doff steam cleaning capabilities to steam clean the retained façade as works progressed down the building
